Milei's government will modernize the Army with the purchase of 8x8 Stryker armored vehicles
Minister Petri, together with Secretary Pete Hegseth, signed the letter of acceptance for the purchase of the Stryker
The government of Javier Milei, under the leadership of Defense Minister Luis Petri, has taken a significant step in modernizing the Argentine Armed Forces with the signing of an agreement for the acquisition of 8x8 Stryker armored vehicles.
The signing took place together with Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense during Donald Trump's administration, reaffirming military and political cooperation between both countries.
Minister Petri, who visited the Pentagon this week, took the opportunity to advance negotiations that have been part of the agenda since the beginning of President Milei's administration.

In particular, the incorporation of the 8x8 Stryker vehicles, known for their versatility and advanced technology, stands out as one of the most important defense acquisitions in recent years for the Argentine Army.
On his official X account, Minister Luis Petri stated: "Together with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, we signed the letter of offer acceptance for the acquisition of 8x8 Stryker armored vehicles for our Argentine Army".
He added: "Under President Milei's leadership, Argentina is once again investing in defense, modernizing its Armed Forces, and strengthening its strategic alliance with the United States, a key partner in the incorporation of state-of-the-art equipment, as already demonstrated with the F-16s".
"This signing allows us not only to guarantee the sovereignty of our people, but essentially to defend the peace of all Argentines and contribute to the maintenance of world peace", the minister explained.
According to initial information, the purchase will be made through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, a mechanism of the United States government that facilitates the sale of military equipment to allied countries. This modality not only ensures the quality and origin of the vehicles, but also opens the door to future collaborations and technical support between both nations.

The decision to opt for the Stryker, an 8x8 armored vehicle with great adaptability to various tactical scenarios, reflects the government's interest in renewing its fleet of military vehicles with technology proven worldwide.
These vehicles will allow Argentine troops to have greater protection against threats and a faster, more efficient deployment in defense and peacekeeping missions.
This agreement is part of a defense policy that seeks to position Argentina as a strategic player in the region, increasing interoperability with allied military forces and strengthening national security in an increasingly complex global context.
With this purchase, Argentina is making an important leap toward modernization, showing a clear change of direction compared to previous governments.
