After the violent storm that hit the north of Buenos Aires province and left a toll of at least three fatalities and thousands evacuated, the Government of Javier Milei announced a line of direct assistance for people affected by the floods. The Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, was responsible for communicating it through her account on the social network X.
“By decision of President Javier Milei, we are working to support each affected family, with direct assistance and without intermediaries”, stated Bullrich in her message.

She also indicated that the Ministry of National Security, through the Federal Emergency Agency (AFE), is coordinating actions with the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Economy to define the operational details of the state support. “We will inform shortly how this aid will be implemented. We are where it is most needed, with concrete responses”, concluded the minister.
The storm
The announcement comes after intense rains strongly affected the towns of Zárate, Campana, San Antonio de Areco, Arrecifes, and surrounding areas, between May 16 and 18. In some areas, more than 400 mm of rainfall was recorded in just 24 hours, causing rivers and streams to overflow, massive flooding, and significant material damage to homes, schools, and roads.

The phenomenon left more than 4,000 evacuated, three people dead, and several missing. The Ministry of Defense deployed more than 100 personnel from the Argentine Navy, along with vehicles, boats, and medical resources to assist in rescue tasks.
Assistance operations continue and, according to official sources, detailed surveys are being conducted to establish the extent of the losses and expedite the delivery of aid. The priority, assured from Milei's Government, will be to ensure a quick, transparent response without the intervention of political or social intermediaries, known for being amid serious corruption allegations.
