The President deepens his global leadership with a meeting with Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Madrid's right-wing leader
President Javier Milei received Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid, this Thursday at Casa Rosada. The meeting once again highlighted the growing ideological and strategic alignment between the two leaders.
The visit took place in a context of strong regional tension and a reshaping of the international stage. The main focus was on the Venezuelan crisis following Nicolás Maduro's arrest, and the subsequent United States intervention in the Caribbean country. That issue occupied a central place in the conversation between Milei and the Spanish leader.

Venezuela and Milei's international agenda
The meeting took place at a time when the foreign agenda of the Argentine government prioritizes coordination with leaders and governments aligned in the defense of the free market and the rejection of 21st-century socialism.
That strategy was made explicit by the President himself in an interview with journalist Andrés Oppenheimer. There he stated: "It would seem that the region has awakened from the nightmare of 21st-century socialism." He added: "We didn't give it a name, but there is already a bloc of ten countries that have been working so that our proposal is to stand up to the cancer of 21st-century socialism."
The meeting with Díaz Ayuso took place at Casa Rosada and included the presence of Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, reinforcing the political and strategic nature of the meeting.

A consolidated political relationship
Milei once again appeared at Balcarce 50, although he mainly carries out his presidential activity from the Olivos residence and avoids taking vacations. The visit of the Madrid president coincided with his vacation stay in Punta del Este. After the meeting, Díaz Ayuso was scheduled to return to Uruguay without other official or media activities.
The relationship between the two leaders is consolidated by the affinity in their political and economic assessments. In that context, Díaz Ayuso recently decorated Milei with the International Medal of the Community of Madrid. This constitutes a distinction reserved for foreign officials recognized for their institutional work, which caused criticism from PSOE led by Pedro Sánchez.

Support for Machado and Argentine leadership
Díaz Ayuso's stance on Venezuela is forceful. Through her X account, she described Maduro as "a dictator who hijacked the ballot boxes and his people: murders, torture, famine, and the exodus of millions of Venezuelans". She also stated that the democratic transition must be led by María Corina Machado.
Likewise, Milei himself defended the strategic stance of the Trump administration, which he defined as promoting a new global order: "It's redesigning the world order," he stated.
Meanwhile, Díaz Ayuso also praised the international impact of the Argentine president: "When there is an international meeting Argentina is represented there. That puts it on the map again and gives confidence for investment and business."
