In the context of the new global geopolitical architecture, Argentina is experiencing a historic paradigm shift under the National Government led by President Javier Milei. This change in direction has generated two diametrically opposed agendas during the stay of Argentine political leaders in the city of New York. On one hand, the libertarian head of state has consolidated himself at the pinnacle of global power, ensuring a massive flow of private and institutional resources. On the other hand, the Kirchnerist governor Axel Kicillof returned with empty hands and zero investments for the Province of Buenos Aires.
Turning to the concrete achievements of the National Government, Javier Milei signed with the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) the strategic framework U.S.-Argentina Build the Future Framework, mobilizing a historic financing package of up to 7 billion dollars by the year 2027.
The financing, focused on strengthening energy security and ensuring global supply chains, will allocate its flagship project of 6 billion dollars to the state oil company YPF to accelerate the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant in Río Negro, in strategic partnership with international firms Eni and XRG. The agreement will also boost the mining of critical minerals such as lithium and copper in provinces like San Juan and Catamarca.
During the announcement, the head of EXIM Bank, John Jovanovic, celebrated the understanding by stating: “EXIM boldly moves toward the industries of the future... We are proud to partner with Argentina”. Accompanying this economic achievement, Javier Milei addressed the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UN), emphatically reaffirming that "The Malvinas are a national cause for us" and labeling the organization as "a caste of parasites, fatally arrogant, disguised as well-intentioned bureaucrats".
In dramatic contrast, Axel Kicillof's journey through the United States did not yield a single dollar of real investment or productive agreements. The Buenos Aires governor focused his energies on showing off the thermos in the Big Apple, making mate his only axis of action.
At the Gracie Mansion, Axel Kicillof was photographed gifting a mate in an official box from the Province of Buenos Aires to the Muslim communist mayor Zohran Mamdani. It is worth noting that Zohran Mamdani, a promoter of an Islamic agenda contrary to national values, publicly attacked Argentina by claiming that the National Team had "stolen" the match from Egypt in the quarter-finals. The meeting was also attended by Spanish President Pedro Sánchez, a leading figure of the Socialist International and a plaintiff in a constant hate campaign against Argentina based on accusations of "hate", "racism", and "drug addiction".
