President Javier Milei carried out a tour of northern Argentina this Saturday, with a campaign event in the province of Santiago del Estero, in the final stretch toward the elections. He arrived in the capital of Santiago del Estero at around 10:45, while at 18:30 he is scheduled to participate in a caravan in Tucumán.
“We are transforming the country, leaving behind decades of decline and building an Argentina based on merit, work, and freedom. Each province has a key role in this process”," Milei said during his speech in Santiago del Estero.
In front of a large number of supporters, the president declared: “It is time to decide whether we want to remain slaves or embrace the ideas of freedom”. He added: “We know the situation is not easy, but we are on the right path”.

The head of state also took the opportunity to criticize Kirchnerism and its corruption: “Meanwhile, their leader wears an ankle monitor and can't set foot on the street, while we are respected around the world”.
During his visit to Santiago del Estero, Milei was accompanied by Laura Godoy, candidate for national deputy, and Tomás Figueroa, Senate hopeful. Later, in Tucumán, he will join Federico Pelli, candidate for national deputy.
Santiago del Estero represents one of the most challenging districts for La Libertad Avanza, the movement founded by Javier Milei. From within the libertarian ranks, they point to Governor Gerardo Zamora, who will once again seek to compete on the ballot, as politically maneuvering to divide local Peronism and thus secure the three seats in the Senate that are being contested this year.

In this election, the province will renew its three seats in the Upper House and another three in the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation. In addition, it will elect a governor and vice governor, the highest offices at the provincial level. Unlike most districts in the country, Santiago del Estero will hold its executive elections in a year that coincides with the national elections.
20 seats in the provincial legislature and 163 positions for municipal commissioners will also be at stake. In addition, there will be local elections in Clodomira and Villa Atamisqui, two municipalities with their own electoral calendars after being intervened by the provincial government.
