President Javier Milei began a new international tour on Wednesday night, with destinations including Ecuador and Colombia, where he will develop a political and commercial agenda aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and consolidating the advance of right-wing governments in Latin America.

The president departed for Quito accompanied by Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno and the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei. This visit will be the first officially made by an Argentine president to Ecuador since 2007 and will feature a main activity of a bilateral meeting with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa.

During the meeting, both governments will advance a series of agreements related to security, cyber defense, air services, peaceful use of nuclear energy, extradition, and automotive trade. Among the planned points is the creation of a reciprocal quota of up to 3,000 vehicles per year with preferential tariff conditions.

The agenda for Thursday will begin at 1 PM local time with a floral offering at the Plaza de la Independencia. Subsequently, Milei will hold a formal meeting with Noboa and participate in a meeting with representatives of Argentine automotive chambers interested in expanding their presence in the Ecuadorian market.

For his part, Quirno will participate at 5 PM in the opening of an economic forum to be held at the Swissôtel in Quito. The goal of the Argentine government is to take advantage of the visit to expand commercial opportunities and deepen the relationship with an administration politically aligned with the ideas of freedom.

The Ecuadorian ambassador to Argentina, Diana Salazar, also anticipated that both countries will work on modernizing the current extradition treaty, signed in 1933. She explained that the current regime generates lengthy procedures and delays, so authorities will seek to establish a more efficient mechanism.

After completing activities in Ecuador, the presidential delegation will travel to Cali, where Milei will participate on Friday in the inauguration of Colombia's elected president, Abelardo de la Espriella, founder of the Defensores de la Patria party.

Before the ceremony, Milei will meet with Israel's Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar, who will also be joined by Karina Milei and Pablo Quirno. He will then hold his first formal meeting with De la Espriella.

The tour is part of the government's international strategy to strengthen a network of countries aligned with the ideas of freedom and to consolidate Milei as one of the main figures of the regional right. The Casa Rosada is also working on organizing a summit of heads of state in Buenos Aires before the end of the year.
