President Javier Milei was invited by his counterpart from the United States, Donald Trump, to take part in the first formal session of the Peace Board, an international body that will lead the reconstruction of Gaza process after the war between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas.
The call, driven directly from the White House, was officially communicated to the Argentine government and the president has already confirmed that he will be part of the deliberations scheduled for next February 19.
The invitation sent to Milei places him among a select group of world leaders convened by Trump to join the Board's initial board, which will include the participation of 27 heads of state and government. In that context, if his attendance is confirmed, the Argentine president will share the space with figures such as the emir of Qatar, the president of Paraguay, and the prime minister of Türkiye, among others.

The creation of this body was not free of controversy. The main European powers —Germany, France, and the United Kingdom— decided not to join the initiative because they consider that its geopolitical objectives overlap with the formal powers of the United Nations Security Council. Despite that rejection, Trump moved forward with the formation of the Board and secured the support of key strategic allies outside the European axis.
The invitation for the Argentine president is a clear sign of the strengthening of the strategic alliance between Argentina and the United States. So far in his term, Milei has maintained a firm position of support for Israel in the face of criticism over its decision to enter Gaza after the terrorist attack carried out by Hamas in October 2023.
