What additional payments can increase the salary of a member of the Armed Forces

In addition to the monthly salary published by the Government, the final remuneration of military personnel may include other concepts, such as general supplements, specific supplements, and compensations. These depend on the function, assignment, and conditions of service of each member.

One of the changes introduced during 2026 was the supplement for degree title, which recognizes the academic training of personnel:

  • University degree: up to 25% of the monthly salary

  • Postgraduate degree: up to an additional 15%

  • Technical degree or diploma: up to 10%

  • Specific professional certifications: up to 5%

This supplement aims to recognize the professional training of personnel with higher education, whether or not related to their function within the force, as long as they meet the established requirements. In addition, there are other supplements for assignment, zone, specific functions, or special working conditions.

What is the difference between officers and non-commissioned officers

Within the structure of the Armed Forces, there is a marked difference between the various ranks. Officers hold leadership and management positions, with the highest ranks, such as general, admiral, or brigadier, as well as colonels, captains, and lieutenants.

Non-commissioned officers, on the other hand, perform technical, operational, and support functions within the military structure. Their incomes are also determined according to the rank achieved and the corresponding supplements, so the salary difference mainly responds to the rank obtained in the military career.
