Moroccan man arrested in Valencia accused of eight violent robberies against elderly women

The 38-year-old man selected his victims in public areas and acted at residential entrances

The National Police have arrested a 38-year-old Moroccan citizen in the province of Valencia, identified as the perpetrator of at least eight violent robberies targeting elderly women. According to investigations, the detainee used the "snatch" method to steal gold chains and pendants from his victims, whom he approached inside the entrances of their homes.

The case began to be investigated in March, when the Provincial Brigade of Judicial Police received multiple reports from elderly women who had suffered surprise attacks upon arriving at their residences. All described the same pattern: the assailant acted during daylight hours, followed the victims from the street, and once inside the entrance, violently stripped them of their belongings. In some cases, the assault caused falls and significant injuries to the victims.

The officers quickly identified a modus operandi consisting of previously selecting women who were alone and wearing visible jewelry, which facilitated the attack. "With excessive violence", he tore off their necklaces before fleeing the scene.

The arrest was made thanks to the intervention of an off-duty officer, who recognized the suspect in a public area because he matched the description provided by the victims. After confirming his identity using police tools, a surveillance operation was deployed that made it possible to locate and finally intercept him in the town of Catarroja, in Valencia.

The detainee has been brought before the judicial authorities as the alleged perpetrator of eight crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation committed in the city. The investigation highlights the importance of fieldwork and police coordination to curb this type of crime and the urgent need to stop the mass immigration that Spain is currently experiencing.
