'Muhammad' is already one of the most popular names in several European cities.
The popularity of the name reflects a deep demographic shift in Europe after years of massive illegal immigration
Brussels, Berlin, Amsterdam, Oslo, and other European cities are experiencing an increasingly evident demographic phenomenon, which is a result of the massive illegal Muslim immigration of recent years.
The name "Muhammad", in its various spelling variants (Mohammed, Mohammad, Mohamed), has become one of the most popular baby names in Europe. This change, consistently recorded in recent years, is closely linked to the growth of Muslim communities on the continent, largely as a result of illegal immigration from the Islamic world.
In England and Wales, according to official 2023 statistics, Muhammad was the most chosen name for boys, with 4,661 registrations under that single spelling, not counting the thousands of occurrences under other variants. This trend is repeated in other regions of the United Kingdom, especially in major urban centers.

The situation is similar in Belgium, where in Brussels, the capital of both the country and the European Union, Mohamed was the most popular male name in 2023. This coincides with the fact that 25% of Brussels's population is of Muslim faith, a percentage considerably higher than the national average, which is around 7-8%.
In Germany, Muhammad became the most common name in Berlin in 2022, and in Bremen and Hamburg in 2023. Although at the national level the name Noah still holds first place, the growing presence of Arabic names in major cities marks a generational shift linked to illegal Muslim immigration.
Countries such as the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Ireland also show similar patterns. In Amsterdam and The Hague, Muhammad has led the ranking in several years. In Oslo, it has been the most common male name for newborns since 2014. In Gothenburg, Malmö, Copenhagen, and Galway, the phenomenon is also repeated.

This phenomenon is not isolated. A global analysis in 2023 revealed that Mohammed, in all its variants, is the most common name for baby boys in at least 10 countries worldwide.
The popularity of the name reflects a deep demographic shift in Europe. Legal immigration, especially from Muslim-majority regions, has had a direct impact on the social and cultural composition of many European cities. This growth of the Muslim population has caused debates about integration, identity, and security in multiple countries across the continent.
