La Libertad Avanza presented a project in the Buenos Aires Legislature to eliminate the time restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages in the City of Buenos Aires and allow those over 18 years old to purchase them 24 hours a day, exercising their freedom and under their own responsibility.
The initiative was presented by the Buenos Aires legislator from La Libertad Avanza Juan I. Fernández, under the file 2410-D-2026 and proposes to repeal various articles of the Buenos Aires Code of Licenses and Verifications that currently limit the commercialization of alcohol.

If approved, authorized businesses would be able to sell alcoholic beverages without time-related restrictions, while their commercialization through delivery services would also be relaxed.
Currently, the Buenos Aires regulations prohibit the sale of alcohol between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Additionally, there are further restrictions on home delivery during the early morning hours, and kiosks and maxikiosks are outright banned from selling alcohol.
The project promoted by La Libertad Avanza aims to end these regulations and allow each adult to decide when to make a purchase within legally authorized establishments.
"If approved, those over 18 will be able to buy alcohol at any hour, in any store or delivery service, whenever they want. Regardless of the time", Fernández explained when announcing the presentation of the initiative.
The legislator also questioned the logic of maintaining a generalized prohibition based solely on time. As a daily example, he pointed out that someone who runs out of drinks during a barbecue could purchase them without encountering a state prohibition for making the purchase in the early morning.

The proposal is titled "Repeal arbitrary restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages" and specifically aims to eliminate articles 1.1.1, 1.1.3, and 1.1.4 from the chapter dedicated to these restrictions within the City’s Code of Licenses and Verifications.
The initiative is thus part of the deregulation agenda promoted by La Libertad Avanza, with the goal of reducing restrictions on individual decisions of adults and on private commercial activity. Now the project must go through the appropriate processing within the Buenos Aires Legislature.
