The multimillion-dollar sum Horner could receive after his dismissal from Red Bull

Amid rumors linking him to Ferrari and Alpine, the British driver is negotiating a multi-million-pound compensation with the Austrian team

The departure of Christian Horner from Red Bull Racing after more than two decades at the helm opens a new chapter in Formula 1. Although he is still formally employed by the Austrian team, Horner has already been removed from his daily duties and is negotiating with lawyers the terms of his definitive separation, which could include a multimillion-pound severance package.

According to the British newspaper The Telegraph, Horner had a contract in force until the end of 2030, with an annual salary close to 9 million pounds. In total, he could claim up to 60 million pounds (more than 70 million euros at the current exchange rate) if the entirety of his contract is settled, in addition to possible performance bonuses. Meanwhile, Red Bull argues that he could join another team, including Ferrari and Alpine, something that could reduce the final amount.

While awaiting an agreement, the Briton will enter a period of "gardening leave," which will allow him to continue receiving his salary while remaining outside the team's decision-making process. According to the same source, he could only officially return to the category in January 2026, once the legal aspects of confidentiality and any non-compete clauses are solved.

Horner's achievements and his net worth

During his tenure, Horner led one of the most successful periods in Red Bull's recent history: eight drivers' world titles, six constructors' titles, and 124 Grand Prix victories, in addition to securing key commercial agreements for the team and for Racing Bulls, the satellite team. Even in 2023, the energy drinks team came close to perfectionby winning every race except one (the Singapore Grand Prix, won by Carlos Sainz with Ferrari).

After this glorious period, Horner ended up with an estimated net worth of 46 million euros, bolstered by private investments and properties, and together with his wife, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, they have a combined fortune of more than 500 million euros.
