In the last few hours, the president of Independente, Néstor Grindetti, publicly confirmed his intention to run in the club's next elections and compete for re-election, with the aim of continuing to lead the institution.
“I want to introduce myself, let's be clear,” he said during an interview with TyC Sports, where he also explained his vision for the future: “I want to continue being president of Independente, I want more people to join the Board of Directors. Professionals who can contribute a lot to this coming stage at Independente where there are enormous challenges ahead.”
In this regard, the leader stressed the importance of reinforcing the management structure with new profiles: “I would love to lead a work team well prepared for this, with newpeople who can contribute professionally”.
Beyond his intention, Grindetti avoided hurrying about his definitive role on the list: “Where, with whom, there is a long way to go. I want to focus on the tournament, qualify and become champion, we have the Argentine Cup and a lot of works to finish. I don't want to think now if I'm going to be president or vice president.”
The current president took office in 2023 after the resignation of Fabián Doman, who had been elected in 2022 with the support of the Independent Unity group. Grindetti, who at the time was first vice-president, took over the management of the club in the midst of a complex context, marked by economic and institutional problems
. Grindetti was first vice-president of Doman and then took office as president after his resignation
In his management balance sheet, he highlighted the evolution of the institution in recent years: “Independente is very good compared to how we received it: an economically devastated club, with decaying infrastructure and a squad that was worth very little. With effort, we were lifting debts and rebuilding the club
.”
In addition, he highlighted improvements in sports assets and facilities, and assured that the squad significantly increased its market value and highlighted advances in training facilities, youth pension and the development of lower divisions.
The Independent elections are scheduled for the end of the year and will mark a new chapter in the political life of the Avellaneda institution.
