Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, the latest installment inspired by the universe created by Akira Toriyama, will be available for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 starting November 14, 2025.
Developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco, the game will arrive with the same content as the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC versions, and will include specific new features adapted to Nintendo's hybrid platform.
Graphics, HDR, and differences between Switch and Switch 2
On Nintendo Switch 2, the game will run at a rescaled resolution of 810p in handheld and docked mode, and can reach up to 1080p, also incorporating support for HDR. This technology significantly improves lighting and color saturation, aligning with Dragon Ball's characteristic visual style.
On the original Nintendo Switch, the resolution will be lower: 480p to 720p in handheld mode and 720p to 1080p in docked mode. On both consoles, the game will run at a stable 30 FPS. Despite the graphical differences, gameplay will be identical, ensuring the same core experience.

Motion controls and more immersive gameplay
One of the main innovations in the Nintendo console versions will be the use of Joy-Con with motion controls.
Thanks to its gyroscopic technology, players will be able to perform signature moves and iconic attacks from the Dragon Ball saga, adding a more physical and immersive experience. This feature will be especially appealing to family and casual audiences, which are key in Nintendo's ecosystem.
Free update policy and user benefits

A notable measure is the free update for those who purchase the game in physical format for Nintendo Switch and later upgrade to Switch 2. This Bandai Namco strategy avoids duplicate expenses and contrasts with previous franchise models, where it was necessary to buy the title again for each console.
This change is very well received by the community, since previous titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ or Xenoverse 2 didn't offer that convenience. The new policy sets a precedent that could be applied to future multiplatform releases.
Impact and expectations among fans
The confirmation of the release for Nintendo consoles caused excitement among Dragon Ball fans. The presence of more than 180 playable characters, along with online and local multiplayer modes, positions it as one of the most ambitious Dragon Ball universe titles in recent history.
Although graphical quality will vary depending on the console, the accessible gameplay, support for offline local matches, and integration with the unique features of the Joy-Con could make it a favorite for gatherings among friends and families.
