Nintendo announces Splatoon Raiders, an exclusive spin-off for the new Switch 2

Additionally, the Japanese company will launch a major update for Splatoon 3

The Splatoon saga is expanding with the announcement of Splatoon Raiders, the first official spin-off of the franchise that will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, the upcoming console from the Japanese company. The game will take players to a new setting, the Spiralite Islands, and will introduce a different approach: exploration and mechanics, leaving traditional paint battles in the background.

Nintendo confirmed that the story will revolve around a group of mechanics accompanied by the Deep Cut trio, characters already familiar to fans of the series. This new title marks a change in tone and represents an attempt by the company to "diversify and enrich the franchise," according to Nintendo spokespersons.

Splatoon Raiders: new world, new story

Splatoon Raiders promises improved graphics thanks to the new Switch 2 hardware, whose power will allow for a more detailed visual environment and more complex effects than in previous editions. The narrative moves away from the competitive format and focuses on solving technical challenges and exploring uncharted environments.

This new concept aims to broaden the player base, including both those who enjoy action titles and those seeking a more adventure-oriented experience.

Update 10.0.0 arrives for Splatoon 3

The spin-off announcement was accompanied by major news for current Switch users: update 10.0.0 for Splatoon 3 will be available on June 12. It will include 30 new weapon kits, among them versions signed by fictional brands such as Barazushi and Emberz.

Urchin Underpass, one of the most memorable classic maps for the community, will also return, adding a nostalgic element to this installment. According to the developers, the improved tracking system will allow players to "measure each weapon's performance more accurately", especially in Anarchy Battle modes.

Multiplatform and continuity for current players

One of the most valued aspects by users is that Splatoon Raiders and Splatoon 3 updates will be designed to work in a multiplatform environment, which will allow users of the original Switch not to be excluded from the experience.

"The transition to Switch 2 will be inclusive, not exclusive," an official statement noted, referring to concerns from those who do not plan to upgrade their console immediately.

Community excited, but cautious

Fans of the saga welcomed the spin-off announcement with excitement, although there are expectations regarding gameplay and how the shift from a competitive style to a more narrative one will feel. There are also concerns about optimization on both consoles and compatibility between online platforms.

Even so, Splatoon Raiders represents a new chapter for one of Nintendo's most successful franchises. With a fresh narrative, new mechanics, and robust technical support, the saga is preparing for a new stage that will seek to consolidate its presence in the next generation of consoles.
