Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 and key details about its connectivity, improvements, and possible 4K support have already leaked.

Nintendo confirmed the arrival of its new console, the Switch 2, which will be released this year. Although official details are still missing, more improvements and changes compared to the current model have already been leaked.

In January 2025, Nintendo officially announced its next console, generating great anticipation in the gaming community. While the company didn't reveal everything, it confirmed that the device will hit the market this year, eight years after the launch of the original Switch.

Leaks reveal details of the Switch 2

Meanwhile, Nintendo maintains the mystery, new documents leaked in the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revealed some key aspects of the console. According to The Verge, the Switch 2 will include:

  • Wi-Fi 6 connectivity: it will offer a more stable and faster connection.
  • NFC compatibility: it will allow unlocking special content in compatible games.
  • RFID sensor in the right Joy-Con: technology that could be used for new functions in the controls.

What improvements will the Nintendo Switch 2 have?

So far, it is known that the Switch 2 will maintain the hybrid format of its predecessor, but with some notable changes. Among the highlighted improvements, they include:

  • Larger screen: a slightly larger display than the current model is expected.
  • Improved kickstand: it will allow greater stability when used in portable mode.
