Nvidia DLSS 5 debuts in NBA 2K27 on September 3, with AI to enhance graphics and a drop of 50% to 60%
To compensate for this loss, Nvidia recommends enabling other features from the DLSS suite, such as Super Resolution and Frame Generation, in order to maintain a high frame rate.
At launch, DLSS 5 will only work with RTX 5000 graphics cards.
The provided material recommends using the technology with an RTX 5070 or higher. It will also be possible to reduce graphical quality or resolution to gain more performance margin.
According to Nvidia, the better the source image, the better the final result generated by DLSS 5.
Nvidia DLSS 5 will officially debut on September 3 within NBA 2K27. It will be the first official implementation of the technology in a game with support from its developers.
The technology had previously appeared following a leak of a DLL file found in the beta of NBA 2K27.
After that leak, modifications incorporating DLSS 5 also emerged, some of which had significant performance losses.
Nvidia DLSS 5 will officially launch on September 3 with NBA 2K27 and will initially only work on RTX 5000 graphics cards. The new technology from Nvidia uses artificial intelligence to generate images based on rendered frames.
The main cost will be performance: according to Nvidia, enabling DLSS 5 neural rendering in NBA 2K27 will reduce performance by between 50% and 60%.
DLSS 5 is a 3D neural rendering technology that uses geometry and color data from the game to generate an image using artificial intelligence.
The goal of Nvidia DLSS 5 is to maximize photorealism without incurring the enormous computational cost of traditional methods.
Nvidia claims that the model is limited by the geometry and color information of the original scene. For this reason, the company asserts that it will not add extra elements or place objects in incorrect positions.
Enabling the DLSS 5 neural renderer in NBA 2K27 will have a significant impact on performance.
According to Nvidia, the game will experience a drop of approximately 50% to 60% in performance when using this technology.
