After a long day of negotiations, the business chambers of the oilseed sector and the unions of the activity reached a wage agreement on Monday that puts an end to tensions and avoids a possible strike in the key ports for Argentine agro-exportation

According to details provided by the unions, the initial salary for the laborer category will rise to $2,578,400 starting July 1, and will increase to $2,719,040 from September 1

The agreement also includes fixed retroactive amounts of $120,000 for May and another $120,000 for June, which will be paid in the upcoming salaries

In total, the accumulated increase for the year 2026 reaches 29.5%, based on the projections of the consumer price index from Indec according to the Market Expectations Survey

Details of the collective agreement

The Federation of Workers of the Oilseed and Ginning Industry, along with the Union of Oil Workers and Employees, highlighted that the pact was signed with the employer representatives of CIARA-CEC, CIAVEC, and CARBIO. The increase will be applied in phases: a 10% in July and an additional 6% in September

From the business side, they communicated that they managed to limit the discussion exclusively to wages, thus guaranteeing social peace throughout the year. “The industry managed to get the unions to negotiate only wages,” they stated

The extortionist unions, for their part, emphasized the defense of the minimum vital and mobile wage as established in the National Constitution. They argued that the agreement aims to cover basic needs such as food, housing, education, and health for workers without family burdens

As always, the mafia-like union leaders criticized the Government's policies and the employers, which they claim represent “an attack on all fronts against the working class.” They particularly highlighted their opposition to the labor reform that, in their opinion, seeks to limit the right to strike
