He also urged Hamas's terrorists to lay down their arms
The Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority, Mohamed Mustafa, demanded before the UN General Assembly that the terrorist group Hamasabandon control of the Gaza Strip and lay down its arms.
"We declare that the Palestinian National Authority is ready to assume full responsibility for governance and security in Gaza, with Arab and international support," Mustafa stated. He also urged the Hamas terrorists to hand over control of the territory and their weapons.
This position reaffirms the commitments expressed in June by President Mahmud Abbas in a letter sent to France and Saudi Arabia. This week, both countries are leading an international conference in New York focused on a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"Only a two-state political solution can meet the legitimate aspirations of Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security. There is no alternative," stated the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, during his speech at the conference.
Barrot also warned that, after nearly two years of failed efforts, it is unrealistic to expect a sustainable ceasefire without a clear roadmap for Gaza's future, without political prospects or an alternative to permanent conflict.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced this Tuesday that Germany, together with Jordan, will organize a "humanitarian air bridge" to provide aid to the population of Gaza, which, according to the UN, is facing critical levels of malnutrition due to the conflict caused by Hamas.
Merz explained that the Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, will coordinate efforts with France and the United Kingdom, countries that have also expressed their willingness to participate in this operation to send food and medicine to the area.
