Leandro Paredes renewed with Roma and included a special clause to return to Boca.

Despite Boca's inquiries in the last transfer market, Paredes agreed to continue with Roma until June 2026. Although he has currently closed the doors to the club of his dreams, the player added a special clause so that Xeneize can buy him in the upcoming transfer markets if they put 3.5 million euros on the table.

"AS Roma is pleased to announce that Leandro Paredes has renewed his contract with the club until June 30, 2026," was the announcement from the Italian team in a brief statement.  The club omitted the detail of the clause, but if the Club de la Ribera puts up the money and the player requests it, Paredes would return to Boca in the medium term.

This detail in the contract of the Argentine National Team player is exclusive to Boca and will be valid from May of this year and for the next three transfer markets (mid-2025, early 2026, and mid-2026). Additionally, in case of selling him, the required amount can be paid in four installments of 875 thousand dollars each.

Paredes's non-arrival in the summer transfer market was due to "negotiations not reaching a successful conclusion", despite having direct conversations with both the club's president, Juan Román Riquelme, and the team's head coach, Fernando Gago.

At the beginning of the year, the midfielder made his situation clear: "In November, when I had the opportunity to say it, I was very clear. I said that I had a contract that I had to respect, and I did (...) I never implied that I was returning now." In response, Riquelme stated: "How am I going to think if he can come if he has a contract with another team? He has the doors open for whenever he wants to return. He knows how much I want him. We will always have the hope of having him. But he renewed with Roma, so...".
