The scandal over the videos of bags filled with dollars linked to Martín Insaurralde even sparked outrage among the communicators of Kirchnerism itself, who refused to defend him. Pedro “Pepe” Rosemblat reacted live upon seeing the images of the money attributed to the former mayor of Lomas de Zamora and former chief of staff of Buenos Aires, and could not hide his surprise.
“My God, what a lot of money, what a thief,” Rosemblat exclaimed during the broadcast, visibly shocked by the footage showing bundles of dollars stored in bags, drawers, and various spaces of a dressing room.
The Kirchnerist streamer emphasized the institutional weight of the case and pointed directly to the position Insaurralde held within the Buenos Aires power structure. The leader was chief of staff for Axel Kicillof, mayor of Lomas de Zamora, and the first candidate for national deputy of Kirchnerism in the province of Buenos Aires in 2013. “This guy was chief of staff of the province,” he stated.
While the panel attempted to compare the situation with other criminal couples of Jesica Cirio, Rosemblat reiterated the distinction: “But that criminal is not a mayor, he is not a deputy. This guy was chief of staff of the province.”
Another member of the broadcast also left a statement that exposed the discomfort within the Peronist space itself. “Let’s not play dumb, no one knew that he was a thief. It’s not like they found out he was a thief when the photos appeared,” he asserted, referring to the political environment that surrounded the former official for years.
Martín, a historical Kirchnerist figure, served as Chief of Staff for Kicillof.
The released videos show Jesica Cirio in what would be a male dressing room of the house she shared with Insaurralde in Fincas de San Vicente. There, significant sums of cash are seen, organized in transparent plastic bags and located in different areas of the property.
The material once again put pressure on the Kirchnerism in Buenos Aires, which had supported Insaurralde as a central figure of power in Lomas de Zamora and later within Axel Kicillof's government. Rosemblat's reaction exposed the unsustainable nature of the situation, even for the most fanatical militants.
