Every February 27, Pokémon fans celebrate the anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red & Green in Japan, the titles that started one of the most successful franchises in video game history.
In 2025, The Pokémon Company celebrated the saga's 29th anniversary with a 19-minute presentation, in which they revealed important news.
One of the most notable moments of the event for the Latin American audience was the participation of Tomás Cortijo, Regional Director of LATAM for Pokémon, who announced that both the Trading Card Game (TCG) and Pokémon Z-A will incorporate support in Latin American Spanish.
Updates for current Pokémon games
The event began with a series of updates for ongoing games:
- Pokémon Masters EX: The legendary Pokémon Kyogre, Groudon, and Shiny Rayquaza are added in their primal forms.
- Pokémon GO: New fifth-generation creatures are added, along with Kubfu and Urshifu from the ninth generation. Throughout the year, there will be special events.
- Pokémon Sleep: It will incorporate dream-themed Pokémon, such as Cresselia and Darkrai.
- Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: New Pokédex cases will be gifted with the codes SB00KC0VER (Scarlet) and VB00KC0VER (Violet). Additionally, there will be events with the starters in their final evolution, available in Tera Raid Battles with exclusive moves.

- Pokémon Pocket: The popular mobile installment will receive an update on February 28, with the arrival of Arceus EX and the promise of ranked battles by the end of March.
