Pokémon TCG Pocket launches a special event with exclusive cards available for a limited time
The Pokémon TCG Pocket Magical Elections event offers two unique cards of Marill and Weavile until August 24
Pokémon TCG Pocket continues to add content to maintain its community's interest. Although recent data show a decline in player retention, DeNA and The Pokémon Company are driving initiatives to revitalize the experience.
One of these is the new event Magical Choices, active until August 24, 2025.
Two unique promotional cards
During this event, players can obtain two exclusive promotional cards:
- Marill (Promo-A)
- Weavile (Promo-A)
Both belong to the Marine and Celestial Saber expansion. Their availability is limited, making them desired pieces for collectors. Additionally, aesthetic accessories inspired by Tyranitar are offered, although the main attraction remains obtaining these rare cards.

More options to complete the collection
Pokémon TCG Pocket has stood out for maintaining a steady flow of events and expansions. The Promo format receives monthly updates, with activities that offer alternatives to the classic pack opening.
This gives players opportunities to expand their collections in a more varied and dynamic way.
The challenge of retaining players
According to recent data, the game has experienced sustained growth in new users and paid subscriptions since its launch. However, the retention rate has dropped. This means that many players try the title but stop playing over time.

Update plans for 2025
In a report shared on Reddit, DeNA confirmed that it is working on a major update before December 31, 2025. The goal will be to improve the collecting experience, one of the most criticized aspects by the community. These improvements are expected to make it easier to obtain cards, making it less frustrating to complete collections before the arrival of new expansions.
Although not all details have been revealed, it is possible that the new features will coincide with the game's first anniversary in October, which could include more themed events, interface improvements, and more attractive rewards for active players.
