Pokémon TCG Pocket prepares key changes to retain players
DeNA confirmed that Pokémon TCG Pocket will receive a major update before the end of the year to improve retention
DeNA, the developer behind Pokémon TCG Pocket, revealed that the popular mobile card game will receive a major update this year. The announcement was made during a meeting with investors where the company presented its results and future plans.
The challenge of retaining players
Launched on October 30, Pokémon TCG Pocket had a strong start, but player retention has decreased over time. According to DeNA, maintaining the number of monthly active users is now a priority.

The current strategy, based on periodic expansion releases, hasn't been enough to sustain interest. For this reason, the team is seeking new ways to motivate the community to log in more frequently.
Improvements to the collection experience
In its financial report, DeNA indicated that one of the main focuses of the update will be to optimize the collection experience. This includes changes to how players obtain and organize their cards, aiming to make it more appealing and dynamic.
The company stated that these improvements will focus on encouraging daily interaction and increasing collectors' satisfaction within the game.
Estimated date and expectations
Although an exact date wasn't revealed, DeNA confirmed that the update will arrive before the end of 2025. It will be one of the largest implementations since the title's launch.
Meanwhile, new expansions will continue to be released. Among them are the next two that were recently leaked and that will precede the arrival of Saber Marino and Celeste.

A key step for the game's future
The decision to implement such a significant update reflects the intention to keep the community alive and position Pokémon TCG Pocket as a benchmark within the digital card game genre.
With this move, DeNA and Nintendo aim not only to improve the current experience but also to strengthen player loyalty in a highly competitive mobile market.
