Pokémon TCG Pocket listened to the players and will remove the exchange tokens.
While the change is positive, many players consider the wait until the end of 2025 excessive
Creatures and DeNA announced modifications to the trading system of Pokémon TCG Pocket, the popular collectible card game for iOS and Android.
However, the community isn't entirely satisfied, as the changes will only be applied in the spring of 2025.
Goodbye to trade tokens
One of the most anticipated changes by players is the removal of trade tokens, a system that limited the ability to trade higher rarity cards. Starting in November or December 2025, the tokens will disappear and trades will be conducted exclusively with iris dust.
This means that three and four diamond cards, as well as one-star cards, can be traded without the need for tokens, aligning with the current system for one or two diamond cards.

Summary of the announced changes
- Trade tokens will be completely removed.
- Trades will be made with iris dust, including three and four diamond cards and one-star cards.
- Iris dust will be obtained by receiving duplicate cards, and the development team plans to increase the amount obtained to facilitate trades and improve customization features.
- Accumulated trade tokens can be exchanged for iris dust when the update is implemented.
- A feature will be added to share the cards players are looking to trade, facilitating user connections.
The problem of the delay
While the removal of trade tokens is a step forward, many players consider the wait until the end of 2025 to be excessive. Since the launch of the trading feature in January, the community has requested modifications, but they will have to wait several more months to see these changes in action.
On a positive note, Creatures and DeNA are also considering the possibility of allowing the trade of two-star rarity cards and promotional cards, which would represent another significant improvement.
Meanwhile, Pokémon TCG Pocket continues to evolve, but players' patience will be key until the new mechanics come into effect.
