A police officer killed two criminals who tried to rob him in Pablo Nogués.

A Buenos Aires Police officer shot downtwo criminals in Pablo Nogués, Malvinas Argentinas district, after they attempted to rob him, putting his life in danger. The officer was off duty, as he was working as a driver for a ride-sharing app.

The violent assailants had requested the service through a transportation app. At the start of the journey and upon reaching the corner of Maure and Patricias Mendocinas, they threatened the driver with weapons and demanded he hand over his belongings.

Faced with the situation, the lieutenant, who was off duty, drew his service weapon and shot at the strikers, killing one of them inside the vehicle. The deceased thief was a man between 45 and 60 years old. The second criminal received a gunshot wound to the left groin and was urgently taken to Pablo Nogués Trauma Hospital, where he died hours later.

SAME Province personnel, agents from the Malvinas Argentinas Municipal Police, and the Buenos Aires Police arrived at the scene, confirmed the first assailant's death, and initiated the corresponding proceedings.

During the investigation at the scene, police officers found and seized two replica firearms that the assailants used to threaten the driver with death during the robbery attempt. These items were incorporated as material evidence in the judicial file.

The investigation was classified as attempted robbery and homicide in self-defense, and is in the hands of the district's prosecutor's office. After analyzing the initial proceedings, the prosecutor in charge decided not to apply any restrictive measures against the involved officer due to the context in which the events occurred.

Another similar case

In early April, a similar case was recorded when an officer who also worked as a driver for an app shot a thief dead who attempted to rob him along with an accomplice. The incident took place in the early hours, at the intersection of Pensamiento and Camelia, in San Francisco Solano, Almirante Brown district.

Back then, the officer was driving his private vehicle when he was intercepted by two criminals with the intent to rob. The officer reacted, drew his service weapon, and shot one of the strikers, aged 31, who died at the scene.

The second criminal managed to escape on foot and, despite the dragnet operation deployed in the area, was not captured. So far, he remains at large, and his identity has not been revealed. At the scene, the necessary forensic examinations were conducted, and evidence was collected to reconstruct the event.
