The town of Tolosa, in the Buenos Aires district of La Plata, was the scene of a tragic robbery that ended with the death of an 89-year-old retiree, who suffered a heart attack after being attacked by criminals who broke into her home. The thieves stole 9,000 dollars from her.
The incident took place in a house located on 16th Street, between 528 and 529. According to reports from the Noticias Argentinas agency, the victim was identified as María Luisa Sotiyuo. Her lifeless body was found after a neighbor, noticing that the woman hadn't raised the blinds as usual, alerted her son, suspecting that something unusual had happened.
Unfortunately, her fears were confirmed. The 65-year-old man found his mother deceased, lying on the floor. He immediately contacted 911. Patrol Command officers and doctors quickly arrived at the residence, where they confirmed the death.
Inside the house, according to the agency, the officers observed significant disorder: an open wardrobe and an empty shoebox. The Justice Department is advancing in the analysis of the neighborhood's security cameras and collecting testimonies to try to find those responsible for the incident. So far, no arrests have been made.

According to what was published by the El Día de La Plata newspaper, María Luisa's son stated to the investigators that several drawers of a piece of furniture had been forced, as well as those of the nightstand and a door where his mother kept the 9,000 dollars she had managed to save.
However —according to the La Plata media— no signs of violence were detected on the house's openings, which raises uncertainty about how the criminals might have gained entry.
The first forensic report, cited by El Día, indicated that María Luisa's body showed no signs of blows or physical aggression, and that the death was likely due to a cardiorespiratory arrest. According to the investigation, the woman was found in a supine position and without signs of having attempted to defend herself, which supports the theory that she suffered a decompensation upon encountering the intruders.
The case was classified as an investigation into the causes of death by prosecutor Juan Menucci, who is in charge of the file. He also ordered the involvement of officers from the 11th precinct of Ringuelet and the homicide unit of the DDI La Plata to deepen the investigative tasks.
