Pope Leo XIV called on countries to support the formation of the traditional family

The Supreme Pontiff made an excellent call to governments worldwide to promote the formation of traditional families

Pope León XIV made a call this Friday to the governments of the world to actively work on building more harmonious and peaceful civil societies, led by the construction of traditional families.

During his first speech to the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See, composed of representatives from the 184 countries with which the Vatican keeps diplomatic relations, the American pontiff focused his message on the importance of the family, and its strengthening, founded on the union between a man and a woman.

In a global context marked by social fragmentation and multiple injustices, León XIV stated that "the Holy See can't exempt itself from making its own voice heard." He pointed out that the current imbalances are generating unworthy working conditions and an increase in division within societies, which hinders integral human development.

He emphasized that these problems also reflect a deep gap between regions of the world, fueling inequalities between continents, countries, and even within the same nations.

As a response to these social and economic fractures, the Pope insisted on the need to invest in the family, correctly defined by him as "the stable union between a man and a woman."

He considered it "a true society, small, but older than any other" and the essential base on which a just and lasting social coexistence can be built. For León XIV, only by supporting this family nucleus can we move toward sustainable peace and greater social cohesion.

Additionally, the pontiff highlighted the urgency of protecting the dignity of every human being, paying special attention to the most vulnerable: from the unborn child to the elderly, including the sick, unemployed, and other people in situations of helplessness.

In a hopeful yet firm tone, the Pope also called for revitalizing multilateral diplomacy, making a call to strengthen international institutions designed to solve conflicts between nations and foster global cooperation. He recalled in this regard the recent exhortation of Pope Francis during Easter Sunday to end the global arms race.

León XIV concluded his intervention with an invitation to conversion and spiritual renewal in the current context, proposing a new path based on hope, collaboration among peoples, and shared responsibility.

"This is a time of conversion and renewal," he said, "and above all the occasion to leave behind conflicts and begin a new path. A world in which each of us can realize our own humanity in truth, justice, and peace."

This speech sets the tone for the new pontificate on the international stage, reaffirming the Holy See's commitment to defending human dignity, peace, and global cooperation, as well as distancing itself from the harmful LGBT organizations.
