The president of Tourism of Mar del Plata placed the mayor of Villa Gesell
Gustavo Barrera predicted a 'chaotic next season,' but Bernardo Martín put him in his place
The president of the Municipal Tourism and Culture Entity of Mar del Plata (Emturyc), Bernardo Martín placed the Kirchnerist mayor of Villa Gesell, Gustavo Barrera in a clash on the social network X.
It all started when Barrera gave an ultra-pessimistic diagnosis about the tourism situation in the Atlantic region.
In an interview published by the newspaper La Capital de Mar del Plata, Barrera lamented that “if this continues, the next season will be chaotic.” He then argued that “we no longer compete with national destinations but with those abroad." "The dollar price leaves us out of competition.”
Additionally, the mayor stated that “we come from a season ranging from regular to good in occupancy and from bad to very bad in consumption.” He also pointed out that in the last long weekends there was “a decrease in the occupancy percentage and an even greater drop in consumption.”

The delusional statements did not sit well in Mar del Plata. Bernardo Martín replied and exposed Barrera on his X account. “Hey @BarreraGusOk, instead of crying all day, why don't you try working? Letting your hotels fall apart is not a good promotion strategy."
The mayor of Villa Gesell replied by accusing Martín of politicizing a tragedy. “An absolute low, politicizing others' pain. You should show respect, at least because Mar del Plata residents died in the tragedy.”
Finally, the head of the Tourism Entity retorted firmly. “Precisely because I respect the victims' pain, I am outraged by the charlatans who give lessons from the media, but manage like Kicillof.”
