While cutting back on food programs, Kicillof is squandering billions of pesos in official advertising.

The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, made three decisions in recent days that, taken together, clearly portray the priorities of his administration.
On the one hand, it suspended the MESA program for 90 days, which distributed food modules in public schools to more than 2 million families.
At the same time, it enabled an increase of 11.16% in the rates of provincial and municipal buses in the suburbs, more than double the increase applied in the City of Buenos Aires.
And all this is happening while official records show that in 2025 the Kicillof Government squandered a record amount in official terms: 62,450 million pesos, the equivalent of 50 milliondollars executed in a single year, doubling the expenditure of the previous year.

Kicillof's measures
First, the Buenos Aires government ordered the 90-day suspension of Plan MESA, a program that distributed food modules to more than 2 million people through public schools across the province
.
The measure has a direct impact on vulnerable sectors that relied on these pockets as an essential supplement to their daily diet.
Each delivery included basic products such as oil, rice, flour, milk, legumes and preserves. Although it did not cover all food needs, it represented a key reinforcement, especially in the Buenos Aires suburbs, where a large part of the beneficiary population is concentrated
.
The provincial administration justified the decision by the need to “reorder public accounts”, pointing out that the program involved a monthly expenditure of between 28,000 and 30,000 million pesos.

In parallel, the Government of Kicillof authorized an 11.16% increase in the rates of provincial and municipal buses operating in the suburbs. The increase, affecting millions of daily users, is higher than other jurisdictions
.
But the fact that generates the most controversy is the level of spending according to official guidelines, which demonstrates the true priorities of the Kirchner governor.
According to data for 2025, the province of Buenos Aires allocated 62,450 million pesos under official guidelines, equivalent to about 50 million dollars in a single year. The figure represents a nominal increase of 139% compared to the previous year, setting an all-time record
.
In this way, while a food program that benefited millions of families is being cut, spending on official advertising is not only not reduced, but it is growing significantly.
