Santiago Solari is going through a tough time at Racing. The 28-year-old winger, who had been a key player during Gustavo Costas' tenure, has lost ground with the arrival of Juan Pablo Vojvoda and was left out of the squad list for the match against Banfield due to a technical decision.

In this context, a formal proposal arrived from MLS. Toronto FC offered a one-year loan with a fee of 250 thousand dollars, an obligation to buy for 2.5 million dollars subject to objectives, and a 10 percent capital gain for the club from Avellaneda.

The response from the Academy was negative. They considered that the fee does not reflect the player's value and rejected the offer. However, the door is not closed: there is optimism that negotiations could resume if the Canadian club improves that figure.

Solari had shown a good level in preseason, scoring in all three friendlies. Even so, with the new coaching staff, his participation has notably reduced, leading to his exclusion from the last home match.

The context of the rejection

Until the arrival of Toronto's offer, there had been no formal proposals in Racing's offices, despite the player generating several inquiries from abroad in recent weeks. The first concrete proposal ended up being rejected due to the loan fee.

The winger remains formally available to the coach while the club awaits an improved Canadian offer. The internal situation is clear: he has lost consideration, and the decision to leave him out of the squad list sent a signal that is hard to ignore regarding his place in the team.

From Avellaneda, they maintain that Solari's value is higher than what was proposed in the first offer. Therefore, if Toronto raises the fee from 250 thousand dollars, discussions could reopen in the coming days.

The player, who was once one of the most utilized offensive options in the previous stage, now faces a different scenario. The arrival of Vojvoda changed the hierarchies, and the winger has been relegated in the coaching staff's consideration.

What could happen from here on

For now, Solari remains at the club and is awaiting news. Racing has no intention of closing the door to a possible exit, as long as the financial proposal improves and aligns with what they consider the player's real value.

The offer from Toronto includes an obligation to buy for 2.5 million dollars conditioned on objectives and a 10 percent capital gain percentage. These points were not the main reason for the rejection, but rather the initial loan fee, which the Academy deemed insufficient.

At Racing, they maintain the expectation that the MLS club will improve the fee to resume dialogue. In the meantime, the winger remains available to the squad and without a concrete definition regarding his immediate future.

Solari's situation summarizes the change of cycle that the Avellaneda team is experiencing. With a new coach and an active transfer market, players who are unable to consolidate in the starting eleven are seeking exits that allow them more continuity.
