The ranking of rates changed and a virtual wallet came first in February

The ranking of rates in pesos moved again at the start of February and left a new leader. After several months at the top, Carrefour Banco lost first place among interest-bearing accounts and digital wallets.

The change was led by Fiwind, which started offering the highest nominal annual rate in the segment. The move reshapes the options for small retail savers.

Fiwind takes the lead in the rate ranking

Fiwind currently tops the list with a NAR of 32%, surpassing the 31% that Carrefour Banco pays. The rate has been in effect since December and positions it as the most aggressive alternative among wallets.

However, the maximum yield has a key limit. The 32% rate applies only up to a balance of $750,000.

Once that amount is exceeded, the surplus starts yielding 21% NAR. This makes Fiwind ideal for small and medium amounts, but less attractive for large balances.

Carrefour Banco drops to second place

With a NAR of 31%, Carrefour Banco ended up just one step below the leader. The difference is minimal but enough to lose first place.

Its main strength continues to be the absence of a cap on interest-bearing balances. The only limit is a maximum monthly income of $4,092,000.

For savers with more than $1 million, it remains a highly competitive option within the traditional banking system.

How the rest of the wallets rank

Behind the top two are options that are already established in everyday use. Belo and Naranja X pay 25% NAR.

Naranja X sets a cap of $1 million earning interest, while Belo doesn't set limits. Ualá offers 20% NAR, also with a ceiling of $1 million.

There are variants such as Ualá Plus, with rates of up to 26%, but with prior spending or investment requirements.

Money market funds and wallets without a fixed rate

Another low-risk alternative is money market mutual funds. They offer estimated, not guaranteed, returns.

In recent weeks, these funds have moved between 23% and 31% NAR. The advantage is daily liquidity and the possibility of investing large amounts.

  • Prex: 31%
  • Wallets with Adcap MFs: 30%
  • Mercado Pago: 23.5%
  • Personal Pay: 23%

Time deposits: who pays more today

If liquidity is given up for 30 days, traditional time deposits still lead in terms of rates. Some institutions exceed 33% NAR.

Large banks pay less, prioritizing stability and volume. In that segment, rates are between 23% and 27%.
