Estudiantes de La Plata and Rosario Central face off this Saturday for the 2026 International Supercup

The International Supercup 2026 will be defined this Saturday with the match between Estudiantes de La Plata and Rosario Central. The match will start at 16:00, will take place at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero, and will be officiated by Darío Herrera.

Why are Estudiantes and Rosario Central playing?

The tournament features two teams that earned their respective merits during the 2025 season.

Estudiantes qualified after winning the 2025 Trophy of Champions. To claim that title, the team from La Plata defeated Platense, the champion of the Apertura Tournament, 2-1, with a brace from Lucas Alario. Franco Zapiola had previously scored for the Calamar.

Rosario Central, meanwhile, gained access to the International Supercup as League Champion, a status achieved after finishing 2025 as the team with the most points in the Annual Table.

The “Canalla” accumulated 66 points, four more than Boca, and thus finished at the top of the overall standings for the season.

The history between Estudiantes and Rosario Central

The two finalists have already faced each other this year. The last encounter took place on May 31, in the Round of 32 of the Argentine Cup.

On that occasion, Estudiantes achieved a convincing victory of 3-0 at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium. The goals were scored by Guido Carrillo, Tiago Palacios, and Mikel Amondarain.

Now they will meet again, but this time with a title at stake.

How is the International Supercup decided?

The International Supercup is played as a single match, so there is no home-and-away series and no aggregate score is considered.

The winner of the 90 minutes will be crowned champion. If Estudiantes and Rosario Central finish tied at the end of regulation time, the outcome will be decided by a penalty shootout, without the need for a rematch.
