Merengue faces Pachuca at 4:00 p.m., while City will play Al Ain at 10:00 p.m. on the second day of the tournament
Meanwhile, Pachuca arrives with the obligation to win. On the first matchday, they lost 2-1 to Red Bull Leipzig, although they left a competitive impression. Jaime Lozano's team showed ambition and good play, but could not maintain the pace. Another defeat would leave the Mexicans without a chance to advance to the next round.
Later, starting at 22:00, it will be Manchester City's turn, led by Pep Guardiola, who will face Al Ain at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The English side debuted with a solid victory over Wydad Casablanca, 2-0, with goals from Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku, although Rico Lewis's red card raised questions about how the defense will be reorganized for this match.
Al Ain, meanwhile, did not have a good debut: they were thrashed 5-0 by Juventus and are now on the brink. Criticism focused on their defensive errors and lack of intensity, aspects that must be corrected if they want to avoid an early elimination.
This Sunday, the action of the Club World Cup continues with key matches on the second day of the group stage. Real Madrid and Manchester City, two of the main contenders for the title, will seek to secure their qualification for the round of 16.
The Spanish team will play at 16:00 against Pachuca from Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. In their debut, the team led by Xabi Alonso could not get past a draw against Al Hilal (1-1), despite a promising starting eleven featuring Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.
