Record for new car sales: they grew by almost 80% in the first half of the year
The automotive sector is experiencing a historic rebound
The Argentine automotive market is experiencing a historic rebound. New car sales have grown by almost 80% so far this year, driven by tax reductions and accessible credit.
In June, more than 50,000 cars were registered, and the semester closed with over 326,000 units sold. This is the best six-month record since 2018.

Historic increase in registrations in Argentina
Dealerships closed the first six months of 2025 with a resounding result: a year-over-year growth of nearly 80%. In the same period of 2024, 182,399 vehicles had been sold.
The official figure will be confirmed by ACARA, but estimates already show a clear rebound in the sector. In June alone, about 53,000 registrations would have been recorded.
Measures that drove the sales boom
The sector highlights the combined effect of several factors:
- Reactivation of credit, with 0% interest rate options.
- Tax reduction, such as the end of PAIS and adjustments to the internal tax.
- Greater availability of units and new models.

Dealers also point out the positive impact of promotions and discounts offered by manufacturers. The recovery in demand was rapid and sustained.
The role of credit in new car sales
Financing was important. In May, 48.2% of new cars were sold with some type of credit. 27,157 secured loans were signed, 95.3% more than in May 2024.

This level of activity is explained by the momentum of awarded savings plans. Although the share of financing has stabilized in recent months, it remains high.
A positive sign for the economy
The national government's measures, such as reducing the tax burden and opening up credit, are helping to drive the real economy. The record in car sales is one of the most concrete indicators.
