Residency exam: The government detected fraud and called for another round of testing
After detecting irregularities, the Government annulled the results and called for a new exam
The National Government decided to annul the results of more than 200 medical residency exams taken on July 1 at the Parque Roca complex in the City of Buenos Aires. The decision was made after anomalies were detected in the scores obtained by a group of applicants, mostly graduates from foreign universities.
The measure was announced by presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni, who confirmed that the current merit ranking is suspended. In addition, a new exclusive exam will be held for those who scored 86 points or more in the original evaluation.
Anomalous patterns and suspicious scores
According to the analysis by the Ministry of Health, "unusual results inconsistent with the academic records of certain universities" were identified. Among the most striking cases, the UniversidadTécnica de Manabí (Ecuador) stood out, as its graduates occupied 9 of the top 27 places, despite not having historically ranked among the top positions.
Adorni compared: "An Honor Diploma from UBA usually scores between 80 and 90 points. The fact that other applicants exceeded 90 without relevant backgrounds is clearly suspicious."

Complaints, DNI, and document review
The spokesperson confirmed that a formal complaint was filed by applicants with the University of Buenos Aires, alerting about irregularities in the process. Following that submission, an investigation was opened involving the Ministry of Health and the National Directorate of Migration.
Migration is now reviewing the data and documents of the applicants to verify whether there were inconsistencies or falsehoods in obtaining the Argentine DNI. According to Adorni, this is an ongoing investigation that could result in administrative sanctions.
How many applicants are affected

The review affects 268 applicants: 149 graduates from foreign universities and 119 from Argentine institutions. Only at Parque Roca, where 8,000 of the more than 11,000 professionals who took the exam nationwide were present, more than 200 irregular results were detected.
New exam and defense of merit
Adorni reported that the Ministry of Health will announce a new schedule to retake the exam. The goal is to maintain entry into the residencies for September 1.
"Merit is a central principle. This government wants the best professionals, not those who cheat," Adorni emphasized. He concluded: "We will go all the way against those who tried to sabotage the process."
