Riquelme's statements about Boca that over time turned against him
In 2019, the Xeneize president was asking to have sustainable processes over time and support the coaches
With the recent departure of Fernando Gago from Boca's technical management, there have already been 6 coaches who have passed through the Xeneize bench since Juan Román Riquelme has been involved in the club's politics.

In 2020, the idol of the club from La Rivera took on the role of vice president, accompanying Jorge Amor Ameal and Mario Pergolini on the opposition list to Angelici's. The previous year, amid the electoral campaign, the current president of Boca would give an interview to Fox, where he would make a statement that contradicts what has been happening at the club recently.
"Now the new coach has been here for 10 months, 11 months... It's not easy to build a new team, it's not easy to reach the Copa semifinal," declared the official. "You as a club have to be clear about what you want, what path you want. If we're going to change every year, well, we'll see when we get it right," he concluded.

The multiple coaches who have been at Boca and the little patience of the management and the fans make these words expose Riquelme. The high turnover in the position means that the processes never fully consolidate, seeking immediate results with high aspirations instead of giving time and finding the way.
During his vice presidency, in which he was practically already the visible face of the club, there were 4 coaches: Russo (594 days), Battaglia (323 days), Ibarra (269 days), and Almirón (209 days). In 2023, after winning the elections against Macri's list, Román would assume the presidency and, so far, has dismissed two more coaches: Martínez (270 days) and Gago (198 days).
