River vs Monterrey: time, TV, line-ups, and each team's current form
The Millionaire will seek to secure its place in the round of 16 ahead of schedule against a Mexican club that caused a surprise in its debut against Inter
The second matchday of Group E of the Club World Cup concludes with the clash between River and Rayados de Monterrey. If they win the match, the Millonario could secure their place in the next stage of the world tournament, but the Mexican club will try to stop them and will look to replicate the strong performance they had against Inter Milan, the favorite in the group.
The Núñez team comes into this match after a 3-1 victory over the Urawa Red Diamonds, with goals from Colidio, Driussi (injured), and Meza. Although the result seems quite positive, the reality is that River still has many problems when they can't find their rhythm, especially in the defensive area, their main weakness, so they will need to adjust several things ahead of their next match.

Meanwhile, Rayados are coming off a great match against Inter. Despite dominating the match in terms of offense and possession, the Italian team couldn't come back in a match they started losing to a header from the ageless Sergio Ramos and ended up drawing 1-1 thanks to the well-executed set piece finished by Lautaro Martínez.

Both teams last faced each other at the beginning of last year, in a friendly during the summer preseason. Back then, they drew 1-1, with goals from Rodrigo Aguirre for the Mexican team and Marcelo Herrera for the Banda.
In addition to this friendly, Argentinians and Mexicans played in the 2002 Copa Telefónica Movistar, with a 1-0 victory for the Regios thanks to the lone goal from Guillermo Franco, and another preparation match in 2023, where River won by the same score with a goal from Lucas Beltrán.
