Attention River received four warnings from CONMEBOL for failing to comply with the regulations.

The South American entity opened a file against Millonario for non-compliance with regulations in their Libertadores matches

CONMEBOL decided to take strict measures and opened disciplinary proceedings against the seven Argentine clubs participating in international competitions. Of all of them, the Núñez club accumulated the most infractions, with a total of four violations of the regulations.

One of the main points has to do with the "arrival of the teams to the city", as River attempted to minimize the impact of Quito's altitude and landed in the Ecuadorian city just a few hours before the match. The other offenses include non-compliance with the match event schedule, improper use of vests, and restrictions on CONMEBOL filming inside the locker rooms.

The four infractions committed by River

According to the South American entity, the millionaire team violated 4 rules, which are:

  • Start of the match: River was sanctioned for not respecting the official match times. CONMEBOL's regulations state that "teams must strictly adhere to the scheduled start time of the game".
  • Arrival to the city: The regulations require that teams be present at least 24 hours before the start of the match in the host city or within a maximum radius of 100 km. River, which faced Independiente del Valle, stayed overnight in Guayaquil and arrived in Quito on the same day of the match, with less than six hours in advance to face IDV. The delegation went directly from the airport to the stadium.
  • Use of vests: Another offense refers to the incorrect use of the official vests provided by CONMEBOL, which constitutes a violation of the South American entity's Club Manual.
  • Filming in locker rooms: According to article 7.3.1.11 of the regulations, clubs must allow access to CONMEBOL's official audiovisual team to the locker rooms before the entry of players and technical staff. Additionally, all sports equipment must be organized and displayed. River did not comply with this point.

Will there be a financial sanction for River?

For the moment, CONMEBOL will not impose a financial penalty on the Núñez club. As it is the first time they have committed these offenses, they would only receive a warning. However, if they reoffend, they could face financial sanctions, the amount of which will depend on the severity of each infraction.

In comparison to River, other Argentine clubs also received warnings. Vélez, Independiente, Racing, and Lanús were warned for delays in the start or resumption of their respective matches.

Meanwhile, Central Córdoba accumulated two infractions (incorrect use of vests and "the invasion or attempted invasion of the playing field". The most severe case was that of Talleres, which did receive a fine of 105,000 dollars for a violation of the Disciplinary Code.
