River once again showed the progress of the ambitious project to expand the Monumental Stadium, a project that aims to bring its capacity to 101,000 spectators and turn it into the stadium with the largest capacity in South America. Through its social networks, the club released images and technical details of the reforms, including new grandstands, structural improvements and the expected roof
.
As reported, the new scheme will include 77,000 audiences and 24,000 popular locations. To reach that number, 16,000 additional seats will be added, mainly after the construction of a fifth tray that will have 13 rows of seats, all destined for
stalls. The Monumental will have a capacity of 101 thousand spectators
The project also foresees important changes in internal circulation. New access towers with stairs and elevators will be incorporated, in addition to about 100 "V" shaped metal columns that will support the new perimeter structure on which both the grandstand and the roof will
rest.
As for the façade, it will be of the curtain wall type with aluminum, while the roof will have an acoustic metal cover combined with a translucent membrane. As a distinctive seal, a red band will be added to the top, maintaining the club's visual identity even in the new structure
.
The images released also allowed us to observe other sectors of the project, such as new boxes, screens at the headboards, service centers and renovated circulation spaces. To this will be added a gastronomic patio in San Martín Baja and the so-called "Skywalk “, a viewpoint located at the highest part of the stadium that will offer panoramic views of the Monumental
. The Monumental will have a Skywalk
The financing of the work will be through an international agreement for 100 million dollars, with a grace period of ten and three years, allowing for payments to be made once the stadium itself generates new revenues.
The execution of the project, which would be carried out by the German firm Schlaich Bergermann und Partner, has an estimated start date of April and a full completion date in 2029.
In this way, River continues with a comprehensive transformation of its stadium, with the aim of consolidating it as one of the most modern and largest venues in the world.
