The CIES Observatory report placed Millonarios among the 100 most expensive teams on the planet today
The CIES Football Observatory (International Centre for Sports Studies) published its report number 513, where it reveals which are the 100 most expensive teams on the planet according to transfer investment. River surprised by appearing in 78th place, as the only Argentine representative in the ranking.
The study clarifies that it doesn't measure the market value of the players, but rather the actual expenditure made by the clubs to build their squads, including agreed bonuses even if they have not yet been paid.
Premier League, owner of the ranking
The English league once again demonstrated its economic power. Chelsea leads with an expenditure of 1.314 billion euros, with the record signing of Moisés Caicedo for 134 million standing out. Manchester City (1.128 billion), Manchester United (1.071), Liverpool (1.065), and Arsenal (1.001) follow.
Chelsea es el equipo más caro del mundo
Five English clubs thus surpass the one billion barrier. Paris Saint-Germain (873 million) appears only in seventh place as the first outside England, while Saudi Al-Hilal (451 million) is the best positioned outside Europe, in 19th place.
River, within the top 100
The Millonario records a total investment of 110 million euros in its squad, with a maximum expenditure of 13 million on a signing and an average of five million per fixed transfer. Thanks to these figures, it is the only Argentine team on the list and one of the few South Americans.
River es de los pocos equipos en el mundo que gastaron más de 100 millones de dólares
Other CONMEBOL clubs that surpass the Núñez side are Flamengo (53rd with 192 million), Palmeiras (62nd with 175 million), and Botafogo (72nd with 122 million).
