River has started talks to renew Miguel Ángel Borja's contract, which is currently set to expire at the end of 2025. The club's management aims to prevent the Colombian striker from leaving as a free agent and, in the event of a future transfer, secure a financial benefit for the institution.

The intention comes not only from the club but also from the player himself, who has repeatedly expressed his comfort in Núñez and his gratitude toward Argentina. "I live in the present, I'm very happy, very content here… I have the blessing of having my daughter, who was born here; Argentina gave me my daughter. Everything is in place for the story to continue," Borja stated at the beginning of the month, before the match against Independiente.

The forward, a key piece in River's attack, also recalled the support he received from Marcelo Gallardo during periods when he was not scoring: "The support I get from him and my teammates is very nice, very special… it commits me to keep working. The year isn't over," he said.

In the same vein, the coach himself defended the Colombian after the victory against San Martín de Tucumán in the Copa Argentina: "He's going through a rough patch, but I liked how he moved. He's a player who has always scored goals and he needs to stay calm," Gallardo said at a press conference.

With the goal of securing their main offensive reference and extending the relationship, the management of the Núñez club is already working on the terms of a renewal that appears to have consensus from both sides.
