Roberto Leto questioned Cavani's starting position and criticized Riquelme for his celebrations.

The journalist criticized Russo's decision and analyzed Riquelme's role amid the Xeneize soccer crisis

Boca is going through one of the most adverse streaks in its recent history. It has gone twelve matches without a win, has been eliminated from international competitions, and its only goal, qualifying for the 2026 Copa Libertadores, currently seems distant.

The 1-1 draw against Racing  at La Bombonera left several takeaways. One of the most striking was the inclusion of Edinson Cavani in the starting line-up, after several matches in which the Uruguayan forward, amid a prolonged goal drought, had been relegated to the bench.

His closeness to president Juan Román Riquelme came under scrutiny again, especially after reports circulated linking Marcos Rojo's departure to Racing with alleged critical comments about the executive during a barbecue.

In this context, Roberto Leto, speaking with Splendid AM 990, expressed surprise at Miguel Ángel Russo's decision to start the Uruguayan: "Russo worked thirteen days with Cavani on the bench and, when they went to announce the team, Cavani appeared as a starter. Maybe Russo could tell you he did it to mislead, but what I can tell you is that it was strange, yes, it was strange."

The journalist also analyzed Riquelme's reaction after the last-minute goal that sealed the draw: "He celebrated a lot because another defeat, especially in a clásico, would have been tough. Boca hasn't won a clásico in over a year and a half, it hasn't won any of the last seven. It was a relief."

Finally, Leto did not avoid addressing the future of the Xeneize coach: "Boca is not moving forward or backward. The coach is on shaky ground. He says he's strong, but maybe not everyone sees it that way. If he ends up leaving, in eight months Boca will have gone through four coaches."

Amid a present filled with pressure and adverse results, Xeneize's outlook remains uncertain, with the team's performance, the squad's situation, and support for Russo as the main topics of debate.
