Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, a phone that breaks with the traditional format and opts for a triple-fold design that transforms into a 10-inch (25.4 cm) display. The company presents it as a natural evolution within the universe of foldables.
The TriFold combines three panels that aim to solve a specific need: having a large screen without losing portability. The result is a device that moves between a smartphone and a compact tablet.

A new format designed for different ways of working
According to Samsung, the TriFold was developed based on how people actually interact with their phones. When fully unfolded, the display works as if three 6.5-inch (16.5 cm) panels are aligned, allowing users to run several apps at the same time without constantly switching windows.
The device supports up to three applications in vertical view, offers options to resize them, and adds a taskbar for quick access to recently used items. Additionally, Samsung has optimized apps like My Files and Health to make better use of the space.
One of the strongest differentiators is that it is the first foldable with standalone DeX, allowing users to manage up to four virtual desktops simultaneously, each with multiple apps open.

For those who work with monitors, the TriFold incorporates an Expanded Mode that allows users to move apps between the phone and an external display as if it were an ultra-compact computer. By adding a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, the device functions almost like a lightweight laptop.
Triple fold, double hinge: how they address durability
The design presents a significant engineering challenge: three panels, two hinges, and a large display. Samsung solved it with two hinges of different sizes, a double rail system, and an internal layout that distributes the weight more effectively.
