Scandal in San Lorenzo: The woman in the video clarified that the money was a 'donation'

María José Scottini said that the 25 thousand dollars weren't bribes and anticipated that there is going to be a third payment soon

María José Scottini, who appears in the video showing San Lorenzo president Marcelo Moretti receiving U$S 25,000, spoke publicly last night. In an interview with TyC Sports, she supported the version that Moretti himself had given hours earlier and denied that there was any irregularity in the delivery of the money.

"What happened was what Moretti said: it was a donation. In fact, there was a second donation and there will be a third because I was very grateful to the club. The treatment they had with Simón (Coronel, her son) was very good," Scottini assured, emphasizing both her relationship with the club and the reasons behind her financial collaboration.

The businesswoman explained that her decision was motivated by the experience her son had within the institution: "When my son came to play at San Lorenzo, I saw the condition of the fields, the locker rooms, and so on, and among people who are very passionate about the club, we got together and made a donation," she detailed.

More contributions and previous connections

Scottini, currently responsible for the media group "Hoy" in La Plata and a former official in Pablo Bruera's administration, clarified that her financial help was not an isolated event: "We made another one this year for the grass and we will soon make another," she added.

It is worth remembering that her name also appeared in the media for her connection with Marcelo Balcedo, a union leader arrested in Uruguay for money laundering, possession of weapons, and top-level cars.

Her son's situation and legal actions

When referring to her son, she explained in more detail his connection with the club and his current sports situation: "He played at Lanús all his life, last year he trained, now he is studying medicine. He stopped playing soccer. He trained with Moretti's son and neither of them played all year, not even Moretti's son, who was his teammate."

Visibly affected by the media repercussion of the video, she announced that she will resort to the Justice: "I will go to the Justice for my son's good name. He has a cell phone, sees everything, and is sad because of this news, even though he no longer plays soccer. I have the evidence that it was a donation. I have the receipt that I made a donation."

Finally, she explained the context in which the phrase that caused controversy in the footage was produced: "I asked him to sign him from a mother's perspective. I'm with the president of San Lorenzo, what am I going to ask him? Sign him!"
