United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met again with Economy Minister Luis Caputo in Washington, in a new round of work that continues the dialogue initiated regarding the financial support package for the libertarian administration.
“I'm pleased to welcome Luis Caputo and the Argentine delegation to the United States Treasury. During their stay in Washington, we'll continue our productive conversations about the various options the Treasury has prepared to support Argentina's sound policies”, Bessent stated on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Caputo arrived in the U.S. capital over the weekend accompanied by Central Bank President Santiago Bausili, Deputy Economy Minister José Luis Daza, and Finance Secretary Pablo Quirno, to participate in a series of high-level meetings with Treasury officials and, eventually, with International Monetary Fund (IMF) authorities.
The meeting takes place within the framework of the financial rescue program promoted by the Biden administration to strengthen the stability of the Argentine peso and ensure the continuity of the macroeconomic order led by Javier Milei. According to reports, the U.S. Treasury is analyzing various tools to collaborate with Argentina: from the purchase of dollar-denominated bonds to a stand-by credit, including interventions on public debt and a USD 20 billion swap.
