The drama unfolded in the 41st minute of the first half, when Pittau, 35 years old, went to challenge for the ball with an opposing player and suddenly collapsed. The match was immediately interrupted.
The provincial police released an official statement: "Moments earlier, in the 41st minute of the game, Don Orione player Enzo Arlando Pittau collapsed alone on the field. He was transported in a private vehicle to the local hospital, but unfortunately died due to cardiorespiratory arrest".

Diario Chaco collected the testimony of a spectator who witnessed the moment Pittau collapsed: "After the 30th minute, Pittau collapsed and then everything was chaos. The entire stands were in shock".
There was no ambulance at the scene, so the footballer was urgently taken in a private car to the nearest health center, where minutes later his death was confirmed due to cardiorespiratory arrest.
Enzo Pittau was a player very closely linked to Don Orione, although he had also played for various teams in the Liga Chaqueña, such as For Ever, Fontana, Juventud de Tirol, Central Norte, Bancarios, Villa Alvear, and Resistencia Central. Additionally, he had experience in Italian lower-division football during a period in Europe.
