The SMN warns that this Monday there is a low probability of snow in Buenos Aires and issues an alert for strong winds
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) anticipates that this Monday, June 23, there will be chances of snow in Buenos Aires and the metropolitan area.
It has already snowed in different parts of the province such as Puán, Tornquist, and Saavedra. In the AMBA, snowfalls have been recorded in Pilar, confirming the arrival of a polar cold wave toward the center of the country.

What does the forecast say for this Monday, June 23?
According to the SMN, there is a 10% to 40% chance of rain and snow in the early morning. The temperature will be around 5 °C (41 °F), with strong winds and gusts that could reach 69 km/h (42.9 mph).
During the day, the sky will be overcast with a chance of intermittent showers. The high will not exceed 9 °C (48.2 °F) and by night the temperature will drop to 6 °C (42.8 °F), with partly cloudy skies and intense southwest winds.
Where has it already snowed in Buenos Aires province?
This Sunday, snowfalls occurred in Sierra de la Ventana and other towns in the Tornquist district. There were also minor reports in Puán and Saavedra, accompanied by below-freezing temperatures. During Monday morning, it began to snow in Pilar.

The local Security Secretariat asked drivers to proceed with caution on provincial route 76 due to the presence of ice on the road in the Abra de la Ventana area.
SMN warning: how long will the cold last?
The SMN warned that this mass of cold air of polar origin will continue to affect the center of the country throughout the week. Extreme cold, widespread frosts, and possible localized snowfalls are expected.

Can it snow in Buenos Aires city?
The chances are low, but not impossible. The conditions for that to happen must be very precise: temperatures close to 0 °C (32 °F), high humidity, and low cloud cover.
For now, the most likely scenario is only cold drizzle or an isolated flake. However, the SMN keeps the alert active and recommends staying tuned to upcoming official reports.
