PS4 users received emails from Sony related to the launch of GTA 6.
This was further supported by recent statements from Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, who hinted that there might be a promotional agreement with Sony.
However, the executive did not officially confirm the existence or scope of the alleged contract.
Another move that fueled speculation was the current state of the PlayStation Store.
For the first time in years, the main offers section appears almost empty, aside from some minor discounts for PS Plus users.
The store only displays a message announcing that the next big promotion will begin on May 13 with the Next Level Savings event.
This led part of the community to think that Sony might be preparing an important announcement related to GTA 6 between May 11 and 12.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.
For now, Rockstar Games has not confirmed whether the online component will launch on the same day or if it will be released weeks later, as originally happened with GTA Online.
There is also no official information regarding the opening of pre-orders or the different editions of the game, although many are expecting news in the coming weeks.
Sony has once again found itself at the center of speculation surrounding GTA 6 following a series of promotional moves that directly target PlayStation users.
Various players began receiving official emails where the company promotes the upgrade from PS4 to PS5, using the upcoming game from Rockstar Games as the main selling point.
Since early May 2026, several PlayStation 4 users have shared screenshots of emails sent by Sony recommending an upgrade to PS5 before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
It has been reported that the messages were specifically directed at players still using PS4 who added GTA 6 to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
This detail caught attention because the game from Rockstar will not have a version for the previous generation of consoles.
At its launch, scheduled for November, GTA 6 will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
This is not the first time signs of a possible commercial alliance between Sony and Rockstar Games have appeared.
The second official trailer for GTA 6, released a year ago, included the message “Captured on PS5,” indicating that the footage was recorded directly on the PlayStation console.
