A patent reveals that Sony is evaluating AI-powered podcasts starring PlayStation characters

Compartir:

Sony once again set the agenda at the intersection of video games and artificial intelligence. A new patent reveals that the company is exploring the creation of AI-caused podcasts starring iconic PlayStation characters.

The information comes from a patent spotted by the site PushSquare. The system would aim to offer news, updates, and recommendations personalized for each player.

Personalized podcasts according to each player's tastes

According to the patent, Sony would use large language models (LLMs) to generate unique podcasts. The content would adapt to each user's interests.

The audio could provide information about game updates, friends' activity, or DLC releases. All this without needing to navigate through menus or widgets.

PlayStation characters as hosts

One of the most striking points is that the podcasts could be narrated by PlayStation characters. Figures such as Kratos or Aloy would be responsible for communicating the latest news.

The idea aims to reinforce immersion and create a closer bond between the player and their favorite titles.

A step beyond the traditional dashboard

Today, PlayStation already displays news and achievements from the dashboard. This proposal seeks to group all that information in a more accessible format.

The podcast would work as an automatic summary, designed to be consumed while the user is doing something else.

Sony's commitment to artificial intelligence

This isn't the first time Sony has patented ideas related to AI. Another recent patent surfaced about AI-powered ghost players.

These assistants could help the user inside the game, even clearing entire sections when the player gets stuck.

Another striking development: a controller without buttons

In addition, the company registered a design for a controller with touchscreens instead of physical buttons. The system would detect finger movements and positions.

This would allow greater customization and adaptation to different hands or needs, although the final design could combine both systems.

When these ideas could reach players

As with all patents, there is no confirmation that these developments will reach the market. The concepts may change or be discarded.
